Fall 2021 Ceramics: Sarah Woodward

Below is an archive of the Ceramics Projects by Fall 2021 student Sarah Woodward:

How do these same hands shape clay differently depending on the environment in which they work? In this project I bring chunks of clay to twelve locations throughout Siena. I spend ten to twenty minutes in each space creating a pinch pot and reflecting on my surroundings. I notice the warmth of the sun, the chatter of people, the whoosh of the cars driving by, coffee wafting past my nose and birds crashing through trees. I notice the cracks in the pavement, the smoke in the distance, the rain dripping down my neck and the distinct smell of a radiator.
