On Oct 27 we had an open studio event at the Siena Art Institute, inviting the public to come by and see what our students have been working on! Also on view was work-in-progress by our current Project Fellow, Ellen Driscoll, and our October Resident Artist Dimitris Xonoglou.
Monday Oct 26 at 2 pm is our mid-term critique for the Art & Society course, so everyone is in the final steps of their mid-term projects! Tuesday Oct 27th at 6 pm the public is invited to view students’ most recent projects in our Open Studio, held in conjunction with the stARTers presentation of our October resident artist Dimitris Xonoglou.
The Art & Society group led a walking activity open to the public, focusing on an exploration of green spaces within the city walls of Siena. Despite some drizzly weather, we walked from the Siena Art Institute to the Orti di Tolomei to the Orto dei Pecci. The walk was also shared through live video streaming to the exhibition space of VERSO within the museum of Santa Maria della Scala.
Wednesday Oct 14th at 2pm students of the Art & Society course will be leading an “alternative walk” through the city center, with the departure point at the Siena Art Institute (Via Tommaso Pendola 37, first floor). Free and open to the public.

Mercoledì 14 ottobre, dalle ore 14.00 (Punto di partenza, Siena Art Institute, Via Tommaso Pendola 37, primo piano): gli studenti del corso “Art&Society” del Siena Art Institute faranno una passeggiata nel centro storico di Siena, per esplorare sentieri alternativi e angoli nascosti dentro le mura. Il pubblico e’ invitato a partecipare alla passeggiata. INGRESSO LIBERO.

The public is invited to join us on Monday Oct 12 at the Museum Complex of Santa Maria della Scala, Piazza Duomo, 2-5 pm. Our Siena Art Institute students will be discussing their work and contributions to our collaborative project within the Art and Society course, creating a “mobile point” and maps and guides of alternative paths and different points of view within the city of Siena. The presentation will take place at 2 pm in the Sala Stretta in the Museum Complex of Santa Maria della Scala, free and open to the public, as part of the week-long series of events “VERSO: Settimana di arte e architettura contemporanea.” Free and open to the public.
Lunedì 12 ottobre, complesso museale del Santa Maria della Scala (Siena, Piazza Duomo), 14.00-17.00: gli studenti del corso “Art&Society” presenteranno il loro più recente progetto collaborativo, creare un “punto mobile” per distribuire mappe e guide da loro create al fine di presentare sentieri e punti di vista alternativi per scoprire Siena. La presentazione avverrà nel contesto della mostra “Verso: Settimana di arte e architettura contemporanea”. INGRESSO LIBERO.
The Art&Society students are part of the week-long series of events “Verso: Settimana di arte e architettura contemporanea” with a center of activities and exhibits at the Santa Maria della Scala museum. There are also tons of events taking place all over town, including an Open Studio at SART Saturday afternoon from 4-6 pm.
