We’re in the final stretch, with a flurry of activity getting ready for the end-of-semester exhibition for the Fall 2018 semester, which will have it’s inauguration event Saturday Dec 8th form 4-6pm at the Siena Art Institute!

Tuesday Nov 13th at 6pm the American artist and sculptor Monica Bock will be the protagonist of the next talk in our series “StARTers – Assaggi d’Arte” (“Tastes of Art”), aperitifs with important local and international protagonists in the world of art and culture.

During her residency in Siena, Monica Bock will work on her ongoing project “On the Wing”, in which castings of birds that died in migratory flight suggest ideas of fragility and unexpected displacement, drawing inspiration from the collections of Siena’s Natural History Museum of the Academy of Fisiocritici. Visual arts in motion —11th edition
The section is restricted to works of video art, digital experimentation, computer animation, etc… For the 2018 Visionaria Festival, submitted short films for the VisionArt section were dedicated to the theme “The Vacation” (“la vacanza”).
Works were be evaluated by a panel of experts in contemporary artistic languages; those selected were included in an exhibition in the 2018 Festival. The best selected work in this section received a special mention awarded by the Siena Art Institute in the context of the Art & Society course.
WHAT IS VISIONARIA?
Visionaria is an international short film festival for fiction, animation, documentary and video art. Visionaria is also the name of the cultural association that promotes the festival. The programme normally includes (along with the international competition) events, exhibitions, screenings, meetings, conferences and workshops. Visionaria’s goal is to give visibility to independent artists and professionals and to spread the culture of the audiovisual. Founded in 1991.
VISIONARIA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL – 25th Edition

During the days of the festival there will be over fifty short films in competition, along with debates, presentations, a photographic exhibition, along with many moments to reflect together on the future and the emotions of cinema!

StARTers – Assaggi d’Arte” (“Tastes of Art”) continue at the Siena Art Institute: informal conversations and aperitifs with free entry featuring protagonists of Italian and international culture!
The presenters for the meeting on Tuesday November 6th will be Adriana Amoruso, Giammarco Cugusi, Gabriele Dini and Claudia Ponzi, the young Under35 artists who have won an artistic residency in the province of Siena for the project “Go to App – Digital Renaissance” promoted by Siena School for Liberal Arts and the Fondazione Musei Senesi (Foundation of Sienese Museums) with the pro bono participation of Siena Art Institute.
The four artists are in residence in the Atelier of the Museum of the Museo della Grancia e dell’Olio (Rapolano Terme), engaged in an exploration of the Sienese territory (specifically the areas of Rapolano, Asciano, Petroio and Castelnuovo Berardenga), rereading through a contemporary lens the artistic, historical and cultural heritage of the southern province of Siena. The residence will end with a series of solo exhibitions in the museums of the Fondazione Musei Senesi and with a collective exhibition at the Museo della Grancia, created with the collaboration of the young curator Valeria D’Ambrosio.
The Go To App project – Digital Renaissance, promoted by Siena School for Liberal Arts and Fondazione Musei Senesi with the pro bono collaboration of Siena Art Institute Onlus, is realized with the support of MIBAC and SIAE as part of the “Sillumina – Private copy for young people, for culture “.
